Start motorhome trip Denmark with a stopover in Twente

Day 1: Beijs Roadtrips Motorhome Rental (Rijen) → Twente

Your Danish adventure begins with us in Rijen. After packing the motorhome, your road trip starts with a relaxing drive to the Twente region. This short first stage is perfect for getting used to the motorhome and getting into the holiday mood. Twente offers beautiful nature and cozy places to spend the first night; ideal for a quiet evening walk in preparation for tomorrow's long drive.

 

Day 2-3: Twente → Haderslev, Denmark

Today a solid drive through Germany is on the program. You cross the border and arrive in picturesque Haderslev. This city, beautifully situated on a fjord, is your first introduction to the famous Danish 'hygge' (coziness). It is the ideal place to relax and recharge.

Visit historic Ribe during the road trip through Denmark

Day 3-4: Ribe and the Wadden Sea

From Haderslev you travel to Ribe, the oldest town in Denmark. You will imagine yourself in the Middle Ages here! The winding cobbled streets and well-preserved half-timbered houses give the town a unique charm. Visit Ribe Cathedral for breathtaking views over the Danish Wadden Sea (UNESCO World Heritage). An ideal combination of culture and nature.

Day 4-6: Esbjerg and Legoland

Continue your motorhome journey to Esbjerg on the Danish west coast. Here you will find the impressive monument "Mennesket ved havet" (Men at Sea). These nine-meter-high white statues are a beautiful sight against the backdrop of the rugged North Sea. Then it's time for fun in Legoland Billund! A mecca for young and old and a fantastic stop for the whole family.

 

Day 6-8: Aarhus

The next stop is Aarhus, the country's second city and a true cultural gem. Visit the open-air museum 'Den Gamle By', where you travel back in time. The ARoS art museum (with the Your Rainbow Panorama on the roof) offers spectacular views over the city. Then stroll through the cozy Latin Quarter with narrow streets and independent boutiques.

Day 8-10: Mols Bjerge National Park

From Aarhus you drive the motorhome to the Mols Bjerge National Park; a true highlight for nature lovers. The hilly landscape, formed in the Ice Age, offers spectacular views over the bays and the sea. From here, also visit the cozy town of Ebeltoft with the oldest frigate in the world: the Fregatten Jylland.

Rental motorhome trip to Odense on the Danish island of Funen

Day 10-11: Odense

You leave Jutland behind and travel via the bridge to the island of Funen. Here lies Odense, the birthplace of fairy-tale writer Hans Christian Andersen. Visit his museum and stroll through the picturesque streets where he grew up. Be sure to also visit nearby Egeskov Castle, one of the best-preserved water castles in Europe.

Day 11-14: Copenhagen

Time for the bustling capital! Park the motorhome on the outskirts of Copenhagen and explore the city by bike or public transport. Stroll along the colorful Nyhavn harbor, greet the famous Little Mermaid, and enjoy the magic in Tivoli Gardens. Three full days are perfect to experience all the highlights of this amazing city.

 
Discover the white chalk cliffs of Møns Klint with the motorhome

Day 14-16: Møns Klint

After the hustle and bustle of the city, seek out the tranquility of nature again. You travel to the island of Møn, where the iconic white chalk cliffs of Møns Klint rise majestically from the turquoise sea. Walk down the stairs and look for fossils. Spend the night in the Møns Klint Dark Sky Park; free from light pollution, the starry sky forms a magical spectacle here.

 

Day 16-18: South Funen

Return to Funen and explore the picturesque archipelago in the south. This area is known for its rolling hills and charming villages with half-timbered houses. Visit idyllic Svendborg or take a beautiful motorhome drive along the coastline for a relaxing finale on the Danish islands.

Day 18-19: Back to Jutland

You drive back to the mainland of Jutland and begin the journey south. Find a cozy motorhome pitch near Kolding or Middelfart, and enjoy Danish hospitality and views of the impressive bridges one last time.

Stopover motorhome trip in port city Hamburg, Germany

Day 19-20: Stopover in Hamburg (Germany)

Today the journey back through Germany begins. An ideal and logical stopover is Hamburg. This port city offers plenty of motorhome pitches on the south side, which saves a lot of travel time the next morning. Nearby is the beautiful Lüneburg Heath; perfect for getting out into nature for a bit.

 

Day 20-22: Arnhem and returning home to Rijen

From Hamburg, you travel further to the Netherlands. Your penultimate stop is near Arnhem. Visit the Netherlands Open Air Museum or walk through the Veluwe nature reserve. The very last motorhome drive is short; after about 100 km you are back at the Beijs Roadtrips location in Rijen, full of unforgettable memories!
