The complete 14-day coastal route from Rijen

Motorhome road trip to the beaches of Zoutelande and Walcheren

Day 1-4: Walcheren (Zeeland)

From our pick-up location in Rijen, you drive to Walcheren in just an hour and a half to two hours. If you want to escape the daily hustle and bustle, this is the ideal start. Walcheren is known for its clean sandy beaches and atmospheric destinations such as Domburg, Zoutelande, and Westkapelle. Besides the beaches, you will discover stunning nature reserves here, such as the dunes and the Manteling of Walcheren; perfect for a walking or cycling tour. With the sea so close, there is plenty of room to sail, (kite)surf, or paddleboard. Also, visit the historic streets of Middelburg and Veere, or stroll along the boulevard of Vlissingen. Don't forget to taste the Zeeland specialties: fresh mussels and oysters!

Motorhome holiday along the Zeeland dunes and vast coast

Day 4-6: Schouwen-Duiveland

After a few wonderful days in Walcheren, you continue over the impressive Oosterscheldekering (storm surge barrier) to Schouwen-Duiveland. Make a stop at the viewpoint along the way. You will soon reach well-known coastal towns such as Burgh-Haamstede and Renesse. For a day of soaking up culture, the charming town of Zierikzee is highly recommended, with its old city gates, churches, and historic buildings.

Parking the motorhome by the sea and lively boulevard of Scheveningen

Day 6-7: South Holland - Scheveningen

Time for the next province. While driving across the Brouwersdam, you can park the motorhome directly on the beach for a unique lunch overlooking the splashing waves. Then we travel on to Scheveningen. Visit the iconic Pier here for a panoramic view, go bungee jumping, or simply enjoy the lively boulevard full of restaurants and bars. A visit to the Sea Life aquarium is also definitely worth it.

Day 7-8: Katwijk aan Zee

Off to Katwijk aan Zee! Visit the "Vuurbaak", the second oldest lighthouse in the Netherlands. From a height of 30 meters, you can enjoy a spectacular view over the North Sea here. Katwijk is the perfect place to completely relax. Are you traveling in the spring? Then take a detour past the colorful bulb fields of Lisse before heading further north.

Visiting the historic city of Haarlem during your motorhome trip

Day 8-10: Zandvoort & Haarlem

In Zandvoort, you can also get a breath of fresh air or take a dip in the sea. There is plenty of choice for sports enthusiasts: paddleboarding, surfing, or rafting in the surf. Definitely do not skip the beautiful historic city of Haarlem. Wander through the centuries-old streets, visit the Frans Hals Museum, and stroll past the unique boutiques.

Visiting Alkmaar cheese market with a luxury rental motorhome

Day 10-12: Egmond aan Zee & Alkmaar

Our last stop on the coast, but the adventure is not over yet. Around Egmond, the landscape is relatively flat, except for a few impressive dunes. Seek out one of the viewpoints, such as Torensduin or De Bleek. Visit the abbey, a local brewery, or even an alpaca farm. A little further on is Alkmaar, world-famous for the traditional cheese market on the Waagplein (April to September). Watch how the cheese carriers weigh and trade their goods, and enjoy the historic center with its canals and terraces.
